Welcome! Here you will find all of my prayer letters written ever since I started the ministry as a Missionary to Honduras, and then as I now am as a Missionary to the Spanish-Speaking People of the Americas. We hope to update this with our current prayer letter that we send out every two months.

May - June 2005

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ Jesus our Lord,

Greetings from rainy Honduras!  It’s been very wet here as the rainy season glooms upon us.  Our yard is like a swamp, and we’ve had to call off church service several times because the roads are just too muddy!  (When your 4x4 truck gets stuck, then one should not be driving!)

My wife and I arrived here in Honduras the 9th of May after enjoying our Honeymoon in Miami Beach, Florida.  We returned home to find that our water pump burned out and we were without water for over a month.  We learned to take “bird baths” (bathing in a bucket of water), which weren’t too fun.

We eventually found a new pump and pressure tank combo in Mexico for cheap (about 300 dollars) when we drove there with Missionary Homero Romero to pick us some Gospel literature in Spanish.  We met Bro. William Park in the mountain town of San Cristobal de Las Casas in the department of Chiapas.  He gave us many boxes of New Testament’s, John and Romans, and booklet tracts.  Both Homero and I filled our Suburbans with as much as we could carry.

While in San Cristobal, I had the opportunity to preach for Bro. Carlos and Octavio Ruiz, brothers, who have been working in the area for about eight years planting a church.  My message was on the beautiful type of Eleazer searching for a bride for Isaac, and how that corresponds to the Holy Spirit looking for a bride for Christ.

June 13th marked a momentous occasion, as we finally were able to install our new water pump.  Both my wife and I were very happy to be able to shower for a change in our own house.  (Bird baths are for the birds!)

Bible Institute ended on the 25th of June.  We had about fifteen students begin the semester, but only four finished.  We plan to start again in August.  Please pray that the students would be faithful.

The work in Quebrada de Lajas is moving forward.  We have a lot of children and teenagers attending, but it’s hard to get the adults to come.  I’ve been teaching through Genesis and showing them the types of Christ in the Bible.  They are really enjoying it.  Please pray that their parents would get saved and come also.

Bro. Mike Lane (the other Independent Missionary here that I’m working with) has started construction on a Church Chapel close by for the “New Hope Baptist Church.”  We are still meeting in my home, but once the building is completed, we’ll meet there.  Please pray about Quebrada de Lajas, and if I should build there (we are now currently renting a building).  There are several options, and several places where property is cheap.  A nice spot is only 2000 dollars for a large tract of land (about three acres in size).

Thus, May and June have been interesting and fun months (except for the lack of water).  My wife and I have been sick off and on, trying to get used to the germs in Honduras, but we’re faring well.  We’ve also had a great time traveling and distributing New Testaments to others.  We also received a shipment of 5000 Chick tracts, which we are now stamping with my address and look forward to getting out.

Thanks again for all your continued prayers and support!

Because of Him who loved us enough to die for us,
