Welcome! Here you will find all of my prayer letters written ever since I started the ministry as a Missionary to Honduras, and then as I now am as a Missionary to the Spanish-Speaking People of the Americas. We hope to update this with our current prayer letter that we send out every two months.

November - December 2004

Dear Brethren,

Greetings once more in the name of our most Glorious Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.  So much has happened in the last two months of 2004, that it’s hard to know where to begin.  God has been good with allowing me to win some folks to the Lord, as well as baptize some of my converts here in Honduras.

On November 18th, 2004, I had the privilege of winning Olbin and Enrique Hernandez to Christ after our regular Thursday night service in Quebrada de Lajas!

Thanksgiving was spent with Missionary Bob Baker in the area of El Tomate, just outside of Olancho, Honduras.  We had a great time of fellowship, as well as some very good turkey and dressing!  The day after I spent with Missionary Bill Kepler examining his printing ministry.  We worked well into the night printing a thousand copies of my book about “Marriage” in Spanish to give away here.  Most Hondurans don’t understand Marriage (as they usually are accustomed to just “living together” in their culture), and my book shows them their need to be married, rather than living in sin, and how Marriage is a type of Christ and the Church.

December 5th, I held a baptism service.  I was blessed to baptize nine people!  We used a church in town with a baptismal pool for the service, and I preached a message about “The Gospel.”  At the invitation, a young lady named Cynthia Sanchez came forward to accept the Lord Jesus Christ as her Saviour.  She was baptized the same day along with: Jose Adonay Garcia Gomez, Olbin Francisco Herandez, Jose Edwin (Eddie) Arriaga, Emerson Neptali Sanchez, Olga Rubi Arriaga, Argentina Diaz, Rosinda Anabel Garcia Gomez, Zoila Esperanza Garcia Gomez, Jenny Cecilia Sanchez, and Cintia Balesca Sanchez.

The 6th of December I left for the States on a brief furlough.  I had many churches to visit and preach in during this time, and Missionary Mike Lane filled in for me at Quebrada de Lajas while I was gone.  When I called back from the states, I was overjoyed to hear that he lead Marlon Alfredo Lopez Ariaga (saved 12-12-04) and Marcia Senaida Hernandez (saved 12-19-04) to the Lord in services during my absence.

While in the states, I had the wonderful blessing of having a few new churches take me on for support.  I also have the great privilege of informing you that on the 31st of December, I became engaged to Ms. Laura Beth Flood of Sarasota, Florida!

Thus, November and December were very fruitful months! Not only did I see people saved and baptized, but I’ve also been blessed with a fiancé.  Thanks again for all your prayers and support, and I pray the Lord will continue to guide, lead, and direct you as you trust and serve him!

Because of Christ Jesus our Lord,
            Robert Breaker III

October 2004

Dear Fellow Prayer Warriors,

Greetings once again in the name of our glorious Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ who loved us enough to die for us! The month of October was one of the most fruitful months of my ministry here in Honduras. God has blessed, and I’ve enjoyed reaping the harvest of the many months of planting and watering.
On the third, I lead two to the Lord in the little village of Quebrada de Lajas where I am working after Sunday afternoon service. Their names were Adonai Garcia, age 13, and Olga Arriaga, age 11. On the 21st, I had the opportunity to lead Olga’s brother Eddie, age 18, to the Lord after he walked the aisle in our Thursday night meeting!
I have also been working on the local gun repair man in town. I like firearms, and I’m constantly visiting him to see what new guns he has to work on, not to mention have him do some work on mine. After witnessing to him for some time, he finally said he’d go with me to services at the Baptist Camp behind my house. I took him steadily for a month, and finally on the 17th, he walked the aisle after service and the other Missionary led him to Christ! Praise the Lord!
Not only did God bless me with spiritual blessings this month, but with a few physical blessings as well. On the 7th, I bought a Pickup. It’s an ‘85 Toyota and it’s a 4x4. Another Missionary was leaving the field, and he sold it to me for a good price. I’ve been busy working on it and fixing it up (as it had many small things wrong with it). It’s really been a blessing in using it to bring people to service over the horrible, muddy roads that lead to our little chapel in Quebrada de Lajas.
On a lighter note, the Bible Institute Classes have been suspended, as we’ve been kicked out of our building. Thus, I’m waiting for the director to find another place so we can continue. Please pray for this.
Also in my bi-weekly Bible Study, I have finally finished teaching verse by verse from the book of 1 Corinthians. We are about to begin the book of Romans.
The twenty-third, I was invited to go with another Missionary to the little village of Sapotillo out in the mountains of Opalaca. We drove two and a half hours from where I live, and then we had to park my vehicle and walk another two hours up and over the mountains (an ascent of a mile in altitude) to the work there. There were about 30 people there total, and we all had a great time of fellowship, as the other Missionary preached and showed them a Gospel film. We also saw one saved!
The 29th, I was asked to debate an American Missionary about the Spanish Bible Issue in front of over one hundred Spanish Speaking Pastors. As most of you know, most Missionaries to Spanish speaking countries use the corrupt 1960 version, which is little more than an RSV in Spanish by the confession of the men who did the work on it (see the quote below by Jose Flores). The man I debated claimed to be an expert on the subject of which Bible in Spanish was the right one and why. I soon found out he was nothing more than an apostate that used a version not because it came from the right texts, but because everyone else did.
I was sick during the debate, and didn’t do as good a job as I had hoped. But that was okay, as the man I was debating did a wonderful job of exposing himself for the apostate he is. His argument was thus:
He said he believed the King James Bible is the word of God in English because it came from the right texts (the Greek Textus Receptus for the New Testament and the Hebrew Masoretic Text for the Old). He then said that these were the only preserved word of God, and that no translation from them could ever be perfect (the KJV included). But then he said he believed that the 1909 and 1960 Spanish Bibles (based on the Critical Texts, and not the texts the King James came from) were the “preserved word of God in Spanish” for the Spanish speaking people. He then admitted that they had errors in them, but stood firmly in saying that Spanish speakers should take a stand for one or the other, and defend them as God’s word.
When I was given the chance to speak, I simply told them the truth about the 1909 and 1960 Spanish Bibles, and how they most certainly do not read with the right texts, but rather follow the “Critical Texts” of men on many occasions. I read the following quote from Mr. Jose Flores, who was a “consultant” on the 1960 Spanish Bible:
ONE PRINCIPLE ADDED TO THE FIRST LIST OF THE REINA-VALERA 1960 REVISION COMMITTEE WAS THAT WHEREVER THE REINA-VALERA [1909] VERSION HAS DEPARTED FROM THE TEXTUS RECEPTUS TO FOLLOW A BETTER TEXT, WE DID NOT RETURN TO THE RECEPTUS. POINT #12 OF THE WORKING PRINCIPLES STATES: IN CASES WHERE THERE IS A DOUBT OVER THE CORRECT TRANSLATION OF THE ORIGINAL, WE CONSULTED PREFERENTIALLY THE ENGLISH REVISED VERSION OF 1885, THE AMERICAN STANDARD VERSION OF 1901, THE REVISED STANDARD VERSION OF 1946 AND THE INTERNATIONAL CRITICAL COMMENTARY.”
I then showed them some verses in the 1909 and 1960 that read with the Critical Texts to make my point. I closed by showing them the 1602 R Spanish revision of the original 1602 Spanish Bible corrected with the Textus Receptus, and how this was the only Spanish version based entirely on the Majority Texts.
After our time ended to present our case, we were allowed five minutes each to ask each other questions. His questions to me were, “Do you believe the KJV is inspired, and do you believe that the italics in the KJV are inspired?” These questions I refused to answer, as the debate was supposed to be about the Spanish Bible, and not the English.
My questions to him were, “Do you believe that a translation can be perfect? His answer was a dogmatic “No!” I then asked him, “Where then is the perfect and complete preserved word of God today?” He replied, “In the Hebrew Masorectic Text and the Greek Textus Receptus.” I continued by asking, “If you use the King James in English because it is from the right texts, why don’t you use a version in Spanish that comes from the same texts, rather than from the Critical texts?” His answer was a lie. He said that the 1960 and 1909 are from the Textus Receptus and Hebrew Masorectic Texts, and not from the Critical Texts at all. I went on asking, “Sir, do you speak Hebrew or Greek?” His answer was “No!” I then asked, “Dear sir, if you believe that the Greek TR and Hebrew Masoretic Text is the pure preserved word of God, and that there can never exist a pure and perfect word of God translated from them, why then don’t you learn and then teach and preach Hebrew and Greek?” This really set the crowd on edge. I watched several men shake their head in approval of the question.
Finally, I asked him, “Do you think that God would be happy with a version of the Bible that contains Critical Text translations?” He became angry and would not answer, but then asked me, “Would you reject a Bible if it only had one Critical Text reading in it?” I reminded him it was my turn to ask questions, not his, and I countered with, “Would you drink a glass of water if it had only one drop of poison in it?” Time was called, and that was the end of the debate.
I came to the following conclusions about the man, and I noticed some of the people in the crowd came to the same conclusions, as they came up to speak with me about it afterwards. They said, “He claims that a translation can never be perfect, and that the only perfect word of God preserved today is in Hebrew and Greek. Thus he doesn’t have a perfect Bible, nor can he read it! So is the confession of an apostate who recommends a Bible by his own opinion, rather than studies the facts, and stands for a Bible because of the them.

The Apostate
By Robert Breaker III

The apostate loves the applaud of men, he loves to hear their praise.
He stands for nothing at all, but claims he stands firmly by God’s grace.

He claims that God inspired for all his precious, holy word,
But then he says to believe it can be translated correctly is absurd.

He calls a “version” the word of God, though error he knows it holds,
But he recommends a translation or two, if it helps him meet his goals.

He claims the preserved word of God only in Hebrew and Greek are found,
Yet then he claims the word of God in another language is not bound.

Claiming preservation only in the original languages and texts,
He then confesses that he can’t even read the languages in which they exist.

If it weren’t bad enough, he lies about the bible in which he does prefer,
Saying it came from the “better texts” when the proof does not concur.

Further he will boldly fight, and defend his blessed version,
Even though the truth will show, it’s nothing but a perversion.

He claims “fruit shows my version best, it’s used by the majority!”
But he forgets to check that the texts it comes from are the minority.

Thus, the apostate states his facts:  “The translation I have is not pure,”
He continues by telling us, “Of the truth no one can be sure.”

The preserved word of God he cannot read, but he recommends it as best.
Thus, his thesis is: “I can never know just exactly what God said!”

I’d rather follow an honest man, for an apostate cannot help but lie,
And his ignorance marks him well, for the truth he cannot find.

September 2004

Dear Fellow Labourers,

The month of September was full of blessings!  God is continually using me here, and I’m glad just to be part of the work of the Lord.  Of course, the biggest reward will be yours at the Judgment Seat of Christ for your continued prayers and support.

The 6th through the 10th, I was asked to teach a course on “The Truth About Roman Catholicism” at the Baptist Camp behind my house.  My students were Lenca Indians who came down from the mountains for a week to attend classes (some already saved, others not).  For three hours a day, I showed them what the Roman Catholic Church teaches, and then took them to the precious word of God so that they could see that all the Papal system has to offer is “tradition” rather than sound “Bible doctrine.”  When I finished the course, they were amazed.  Many students said, “How could we as Catholics believe in an ungodly system that’s so ‘stupid’ and ‘antibiblical.’  Some of the students weren’t saved, and God used the teaching to plant a seed and to bring them to the Lord, as on Sunday night eight people got saved at the Baptist Camp after the other Missionary preached!

Things in Quebrada de Lajas are going well.  The 12th was “Children’s Day” here in Honduras, and I decided we ought to celebrate it the typical Honduran style with food and a Piñata.  This we did, and had a good turn out of not only children, but their parents as well.  Our little Chapel was full!

God continues to bless there in the small work with the Lenca Indians (mostly hard Catholic people).  On the 26th I led Emerson Neftali Sanchez, age 13, to the Lord, and then on the 30th, I led his sister Jenny to the Lord!   The same day  I dealt with Leslie Martinez who also chose to trust the Lord Jesus Christ as her Saviour!

On the 18th, the Lenca Bible Institute began again.  I was asked to preach on “Preacher and His Problems.”  Our first class went well, and I enjoyed seeing several new students .

The 24th, I preached in Ramon Galeano’s church here (The Good Shepherd Baptist Church).  They recorded my sermon, and played it on their radio station several days afterwards.  Many of the people I’m trying to reach in Quebrada de Lajas told me they heard the sermon at home while listening to their stereo.  That was a blessing!

Thanks again for all your continued prayers and support.  God seems to be working in Honduras, and I count it an immense privilege just to be here.  May God continue to bless you all!

August 2004

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ Jesus our Lord and Saviour,

As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country.”
                                                                                                                                    - Proverbs 25:25

The month of August certainly brought a lot of “good news” in service for the Lord!

We had dinner on the grounds on the first at Quebrada de Lajas, and had a great time of fellowship as we cooked together at the little building we are renting.  It was great to see the people working together.  Afterwards we had a great service.

At the Baptist Camp behind my house here in La Esperanza we had a short revival from the 6th through the 8th.  A Missionary from El Salvador was asked to preach, and he did a great job.

On the 15th, we had six saved at the Baptist Camp after service!  I lead three of them personally to the Lord, while the other Missionary dealt with the others.  They were ripe and ready to be saved, and it was a blessing to be able to take them through the scriptures and show them how to trust the shed blood of Jesus Christ to save their soul!

I gave away a tract in Tegucigalpa at a restaurant the beginning of the month, and saw some fruit from it.  A young man named Denis Gomez (my waiter), age 23, sent a letter to my address on the back saying that he trusted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Saviour after reading it.  I met the young man afterwards and gave him a Bible, and helped to disciple him on how to live a victorious Christian life and put the past behind him and live for God.

We also had a Baptismal Service here the end of August.  We were allowed to use the newly constructed Baptismal at the Iglesia Bautista El Buen Pastor (The Good Shepherd Baptist Church) in downtown La Esperanza.  I baptized three (two from Quebrada de Lajas, and one that I led to the Lord in my neighborhood), while the other Missionary baptized six more.

Thus, August was a very fruitful month, and it was a joy to see God using not only myself, but the other Missionary here as well.

Thank you again for all your continued prayers and support!!!

July 2004

Dear Bloodbought Clan,

How quickly July passed!  I just whizzed by like a bolt of lightining, leaving behind only memories, both good and bad...
GOOD MEMORIES:

On the 13th, I turned thirty years old!  Then on the 29th, I had my spiritual birthday (the most important one).  I am now 12 years old spiritually (almost a teenager!) in the Lord.

On the 16th, I had one saved named Belkis Hernandez in our services in Quebrada de Lajas.  He trusted Christ as his Saviour one evening after services.

We have now started services in our new building in Quebrada de Lajas on Sundays at three o’clock (where we have regular Thursday night service).  Before we were meeting in another house on Sunday, but now we have decided it’s best that all come to the same place!  Several lost people came for the first Sunday service, but have not as yet trusted Christ as their Saviour.  Please pray for them.

BAD MEMORIES:

Early during the month I took some “De-worming” medicine.  This worked wonderfully, and I was able to expel all the worms in my system, albeit it was a trying experience, and left me weak for several days.

On the 7th, I was driving down the road in Tegucigalpa when my back left tire suddenly went rolling by me at about forty miles an hour!  I slammed on the brakes and watched it jump a fence and head towards a car wash.  The lugnuts were loose, and eventually came completely off, freeing the tire and destroying the rim.  Fortunately, I was able to fix the problem and buy new lugnuts.  However, I still need a new rim, as I now have no spare tire.

Apart from the good and bad, what more can I tell you?  I’ve been faithful in teaching at the Bible Institute (although the tire disaster kept me from going one Saturday).  I also have been busy getting out tracts, Bibles, and Gospel literature to others (God has been using me here as a supplier of Bibles and tracts to many other churches around the area, which has been a real blessing!) as well as visiting, preaching and teaching.

Thanks again for all your prayers and support!

June 2004

Dear Brethren,

I’m continually busy here in Honduras plodding along and am enjoying faithfully planting, watering, and watching God give the increase!

On June 10th, a young lady named Kenia Amaya trusted Jesus Christ as her Saviour in services at Quebrada de Lajas, after I preached a message entitled, “¡Aceptad!” (Accept!)  To God be the Glory!

We moved out of our old building that was full of bats, and had our first service in the building across the street on the 17th.  We had a good crowd of people, about 35 in total, and I preached on the subject of “THE BLOOD.”  My points were that the blood is 1. “Pura” (Pure),  2. “Preciosa” (Precious) , and 3. “Poderosa” (Powerful).

On the 15th of June, my Mom flew down from the states to spend two weeks with me.  We had a wonderful time together, as I took her with me out in the mountains to visit the people I’m trying to reach.  I also took her around with me to other areas during the first week, showing her what I’m doing here, and where I’m preaching and teaching.

The second week she was here, we journeyed to the Honduran island of Utila on the Northern Coast.  There we took a vacation, and enjoyed learning how to Scuba Dive.  After only three days of classes we both became certified PADI Open Water divers.  It was a lot of fun, and I had the opportunity to swim underwater with a huge Hawk’s Bill Sea Turtle.  We also were blessed to see barracuda, a morey eel, squid, a sea horse, and many other beautiful marine creatures in their own natural habitat!

It wasn’t all vacation time, however, as I was asked to teach Wednesday night service at the Baptist Church there in Utila for Pastor Julio Cordón, as well as preach on Sunday evening.  My Mom was there for that, and we had someone translate for her into English (as I preached in Spanish).

I also had the opportunity to witness to an old man there on Utila named Harry Cooper.  He doesn’t claim to be saved, but says he’s a distant cousin to Missionary Earl Howell there.  Please pray for Mr. Cooper’s salvation.

Thus, June was a very fun month.  Not only was it good to see the Lord’s family in our little church growing, but it was a blessing to spend some time with my mother as well.

Thanks again for all your continued prayers and support.  May God richly bless you all!

May 2004

Dear Fellow Prayer Warriors,

Greetings in the precious name of the almighty, all powerful, omnipotent Saviour and most blessed Creator — our Lord Jesus Christ!  I hope this letter finds you walking in the joy and power of the Holy Ghost, while ever busy in the work of the Lord.

PLANTING SEEDS

I’m learning that it pays to make relationships with people.  Anywhere and everywhere I go, I am quick to be friendly with others, and open conversation.  This eventually gives the opportunity to speak with them later about the Lord.  At the “Value Center” store in Tegucigalpa, for example, I had a wonderful chance to witness to the entire store, and the boss let me give away Bibles and New Testaments to everyone that worked there!

SEED SPROUTING UNTO ETERNAL LIFE

At the Aerocasillas Mail Center in Tegucigalpa (where I get my mail), I’ve been witnessing to Ms. Ingrid Lopez Sevilla for over a year.  Everytime I’d go there, I’d give her a different tract and speak to her about the Lord.  On the 3rd of May, I received the most wonderful news when she told me, “I finally accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Saviour by faith in his shed Blood!”  Thus, planting seeds is definitely worth the effort!

SERVICES HERE IN HONDURAS

The other Missionary came back last month, and this month we moved from having services in my garage to the much bigger Baptist Camp behind my house.  Services seem to be going well, and more people are starting to come.  On Mother’s Day we had almost one hundred people (mostly mothers and children).

Services in Quebrada de Lajas are going well, except for the undesired “visitors” we have in our building.  Yes, the building is full of bats!  And we are constantly battling against them every Thursday during services.  Once I had one fly right in front of my face while preaching.  (Not a wonderful experience!)

STUDIES AT THE BIBLE INSTITUTE

I finished teaching my class on First and Second Thessalonians at the Lenca Bible Institute on the eight.  And was asked to teach on “Church History” this semester, which started on the 22nd.  I have about twelve students total and they are very eager to learn.

SALLYING FORTH TO OTHER AREAS

On May 10th, I had the wonderful opportunity to travel to a new area and visit there.  The town was called “Malguarra” and I visited a young man named Baldomero Hernandez.  I took with me a lost friend named Catalino, and had a good opportunity to witness to them both as we walked down to the river.  We sat on old logs, and I showed them many verses of scripture.  Please pray for their salvation.

Thanks again for all your prayers and support.  I feel so unworthy, but am very grateful for your helping the ministry in Honduras!

April 2004

Dear Praying Fellowlabourers,

And some believed the things which were spoken, and some believed not.”  Acts 28:24

The most frustrating thing about being a Missionary is witnessing to others and watching them willingly deny the Lord Jesus Christ and reject him as their Saviour.   As the verse above says, some will believe and some won’t.  But that’s no excuse to quit witnessing, as so many “Christians” have nowadays, rather it compels me to continue on for the sake of those that will.

WITNESSING TO ALL

On April 13th, I took a “road trip” with some of my converts to the little village of “Los Dolores” to witness to their lost family members.   There, I had the chance to take Ichabel and Gregorio Sanchez (brothers) through the scriptures, and show them their sin, their need to be saved, and their pending judgment if they refuse.  Unfortunately, they put salvation off until another day.

On April 18th, while in Quebrada de Lajas, I stumbled upon two young, lost men who have visited our services there.  They were both drunk, and one was so intoxicated, that he was laying in the middle of the road almost completely passed out.  I did the only Christian thing I could, I played the “Good Samaritan” in taking them home, and putting them to bed.  This opened the door to witness to some of their family as well.

On April 26th, in Teguicigalpa, I took Mrs. Ruth Yamileth Avila and her sister through the scriptures showing them their need for “eternal” rather than temporal life.  They listened well, but chose not to repent, claiming they “just weren’t ready yet.”

WINNING ONE

Returning from Los Dolores on the 13th, I witnessed to Blanca’s brother Juan Carlos Sanchez, asking him to turn to verses on salvation and read them.  He did so, and before we arrived to Quebrada de Lajas, I pulled over on the side of the road and led him to the Lord Jesus Christ by faith in the precious shed blood!

WORKS

Services at my house have been going on now for four months in the absence of the other Missionary, who had gone to the states.  We’ve seen several saved, and I’ve enjoyed preaching to mostly teenagers, who are eager to learn.

I’m continuing on in Quebrada de Lajas preaching and teaching each Thursday Night and Sunday afternoon in this very Catholic stronghold.  It seems that there’s always a new person in service that is “curious” to hear what’s being preached, and I enjoy showing them God’s words.   Please pray for both of these works.

WANTS

I am in much need of Spanish tracts against the Catholics, J.W.’s, Mormon’s and more.  Anything you could send would be a blessing.  Please mail them to the address below.

Much heartfelt thanks I desire and send to you all for your continued prayers and support.  May God bless you richly, and may we soon “gather at the river” to shout, sing, praise, and enjoy our blessed eternity with him who loved us enough to die for us.

Because of Christ Jesus our most marvellous Lord,

March 2004

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ Jesus our Lord,

Another month has appeared and then departed, leaving behind only pleasing memories of days gone by.  With it, toil, cares, trouble, and concern have all withered away, and time has brought us even closer to the blest day of the soon appearing of our Great God and Saviour in the clouds with Glory.  How wonderful it will be to finally shuffle off this mortal coil of sin, shame, and woe, and take on the likeness of Him who knew no sin!
But until the Morning Star arise, I’ve determined the more to press on to the mark of the high calling of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, enjoying, admist a sea of problems, the few small blessings that God sends my way.

March has been both a month to remember, and a month to forget.  Inspite of pain, horrible sicknesss, continual car trouble, and more, God’s blessed with the joy of seeing some fruit in the lives of some converts.  And rather than dwell upon the ill that’s befallen me, I’d rather you rejoice with me in the good.

On the 18th, I had the most wonderful opportunity to perform my first wedding ceremony between Jose Martir Martinez, and Blanca Gladis Sanchez.  They have been attending services with me in Quebrada de Lajas, for some time.  I lead Blanca to the Lord back in January, and then stressed to her and Martir their need to get married to preserve their testimony.  They agreed, and I had the priviledge of taking them to La Esperanza to the “Alcalde” (Mayor’s office) on Friday March 12th, for their “civil” vows.  I then presided over the Marriage ceremony in Quebrada de Lajas the following Thursday.

Many people were in attendance, including many of their lost family members and friends.  I used the opportunity to preach about “Marriage in the Bible.”  I not only showed them the first Marriage in Genesis between Adam and Eve, and taught them God’s commands for married couples from a Biblical standpoint, but I was careful to show how marriage relates to salvation in the type of Christ and the Church and stressed their need to trust Jesus Christ as their Saviour.  I closed by speaking of that most glorious and last of all Marriages, “The Marriage of the Lamb” in heaven, and pleaded with them to come to Christ so they won’t miss out in being there.

During the service, the Honduran people have a custom which seemed a little “Catholic” to me.  After they say their vows, they have the two kneel before the preacher, and he is to lay his hands on their head and pray for them.  This made me feel rather uncomfortable, and to me seemed quite “Popish,” so I just kneeled with them, and prayed that God would bless them and use them.

After the wedding, we ate our fill of “Nacatamales” at Martir’s house.  About eighty people in total came, and it was a great time of fellowship, food, and fun.

Thanks again for all your prayers and support.

To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and for ever.  Amen!” (Jude 25).

February 2004

Dear Accepted in the Beloved,

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.  (Matthew 28:19,20)

What a blessed privilege it is to be a Missionary!  And what a joy it is to know that He who loved me enough to die for me, promised that he’d be with me “always, even unto the end of the world!”   February has been a fruitful month, and it’s been a blessing to just have the opportunity to serve the Lord and obey the verse above.

GO YE

I’ve been faithful in going out to Quebrada de Lajas and holding services on Thursday’s and Sunday’s.  God’s been faithful too, and has recently given me another family to study Bible with.  Our first class, I taught on “Salvation,” and God allowed me to win both Ronnie Cruz Hernandez and his brother David to the Lord!  The rest of the family claims to be saved, except for one.  Please pray for him.

...TEACHING THEM

Bible Institute has started up again, and I’m teaching now verse by verse from First and Second Thessalonians to my students.  Classes will run up until the eight of May, so I ask that you keep that in your prayers.
Also, I’m still holding Bible Study in my house twice a week.  I’m teaching verse by verse from Galatians, and we are having a great time learning about the difference between “The Law” and “Grace.”

...BAPTIZING THEM

The end of February, I was invited to a Baptismal service with several other Baptist Churches in the area.  I went and took three newly saved people that are attending services with me to the event.  There were over an hundred people that showed up in all, and about twenty in total that were baptized.   I was asked to preach to them about the significance of Baptism, and I showed how it is a “figure” that symbolizes the Death, Burial, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ, and is an “answer of a good conscience towards God (1 Peter 3:21), that gives a testimony to others that one has accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour through faith in the precious Blood.  God blessed the message and we had several saved.  After we all walked together down to the river, we sang hymns and then began the “dunking.”  I baptized my three, and also had the privilege of winning a young woman to the Lord of 17 years of age who said, “I don’t want go to Hell!  I want to get saved too, so I can also publicly and openly show others that I’ve trusted Christ as my Saviour as well!”

...AND ‘LO’ I AM WITH YOU

Thank God he’s with us in the “lows” and the “highs.”  Most of the month of February brought many a “high” point.  Yet there have been some “lows” as well, such as “car problems,” “people problems,” “churches dropping my support,” etc.   But worse than all that, I’ve been sick quite frequently.  Call it “overexertion,” “being worn out,” “lack of rest,” or what you like, but I’ve been in poor health most of the month with not much time for needed rest.  I ask that you keep me in your prayers, and that God would help me to get better, as there is so much to do here in Honduras! If my health doesn’t improve, I might have to cut back on what I’m doing in order to keep from getting worse physically, and I sure don’t want to do that.

Because of Christ Jesus our Most Gracious Lord,
