Dear Brother and Sisters in Christ,
Greetings in the precious name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ! I hope this letter finds you all in perfect health, and walking with the Lord. Well, it’s the year 2001 already. Time is just flying by! God has been good in the year 2000, and it’s hard to believe it’s over. It just went by so quickly! Well, let me tell you about what happened toward the end of last year and the beginning of this one.
In December of 2000, I had to have four wisdom teeth removed which were beginning to ache terribly. Two of the teeth were still under the gums, and one was growing under another tooth instead of up. They put me on IV and knocked me out and I didn’t feel a thing. What was funny was that when they woke me up, I was so out of it, that I couldn’t speak in English! They kept asking me questions, and I’d answer only in Spanish! They’d ask louder because they thought I didn’t understand, and then I’d answer louder (In Spanish). We were both frustrated because we couldn’t understand each other. It was quite humorous as I thought about it later! I guess I’m doing better on my Spanish than I thought! The surgery went well though and they did a great job. However, it did take me about two weeks to recouperate. The reason being, that I got the medicine confused. And, instead of taking one Demerol pain pill and three antibiotic pills per day, I did the opposite by mistake. Well, needless to say, I didn’t feel much pain!
After resting up at my Mom’s house in Oklahoma, I came back home to Florida the end of December to schedule meetings for the year 2001. As, I began, I was invited to South Carolina to preach in the Spanish church there, that I’ve written to you about before. I went, and preached there two Sunday mornings in a row. Also, I had a door of opportunity opened unto me to preach in an all Honduran church in downtown Beaufort. I really enjoyed it. I felt like I was back in Honduras!
While in S.C., we did a lot of personal work. And, one night on visitation in the many Mexican Trailer complexes there in Beaufort, I was able to take a Mexican man named Augustin through the Spanish Scriptures, and after about 25 minutes, he made a profession of salvation, by faith in the precious blood of Jesus Christ!
Also, I had the opportunity to lead a young man about 14 years old named David to the Lord after the English service one Sunday night. I took him through the Bible and showed him the engrafted word which is able to save one’s soul. Afterwards he trusted in Jesus Christ as his Saviour! It was a fruitful trip and I enjoyed it a lot. Now begins the tedious work of calling for more meetings for this year. Please pray for me that I’ll get some meetings and that maybe this will be the year that God gets me to the field of Honduras!
I’d like to close with this. In my November prayerletter, I told you all about my great great great grandfather Jacob Manly Cantey Breaker, and how I’ve been looking for information about him, and found out that he was a Baptist preacher in the 1800’s. Well, in my free time there in South Carolina, I found one of the churches he pastored, and went to see it. On the back of this letter is a picture of me standing in the same pulpit in which he preached the glorious gospel of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ!
Thanks again to everyone for all your prayers and support, and I look forward to serving God together in this new year of 2001.
Because He shed His blood for me,
Robert Ray Breaker III
