Dear Fellowlabourers in the work of the Lord,
I arrived home to Honduras on the third of this month after nearly a month’s furlough in the United States. My time there was well spent, and I was blessed to see some new churches take me on for support!
Upon my arrival here, Missionary Mike Lane picked me up at the airport, and told me that the Baptist Camp behind my house was taken from him, and that we couldn’t have services there anymore. Thus, we’ve moved our meetings to my house on Wednesday and Sunday night until he can build a chapel up the road on some property he’s bought there. Soon, we are planning to start a Sunday morning service, of which I’ll be teaching.
The first week of this month was hectic. I invited Dr. Kent Hovind from Creation Science Evangelism, based in Pensacola, Florida, to come and present his seminars about “Dinosaurs,” “Creation,” “The Age of the Earth,” and “The Dangers of Evolution.” Myself and at least three other men have been working on translating his slides into Spanish. This is tedious work, and I’ve spent more than a few 13 hour days on them. Our desire was to tape his presentation with someone translating into Spanish so the Latino world would have access to his valuable information about God’s Creation. And praise be to God, we were able to do just that!
Dr. Hovind came the 16th-19th, and we were very fortunate to find some great cameras and camera men, two superb translators, and a hospitable Baptist church in the city of San Pedro Sula which helped with the recording. These Spanish versions of his seminars will be edited and ready for sale tentatively around June or July of this year. I look forward to seeing how they turned out, as well as getting them into the hands of Spanish speaking people in both VHS and DVD format.
Bro. Allen Johnson, Spanish Department Director of Landmark Baptist Church in Haines City, Florida, was one of the translators at the Seminar. He did a great job, and I am certain we couldn’t have done it without him. After the conference, I brought him home with me to La Esperanza and had him preach on the 20th at our Thursday night service in Quebrada de Lajas. He preached a powerful message, and a young lady named Laura Hernadez walked the aisle and came down to get saved. I had the privilege of leading her to the Lord shortly thereafter. What a blessing!
So ends the first month of the new year. God has blessed last year exceeding abundantly above and beyond what I could have thought or asked for! And what a blessing to see this month start off with a bang with one saved, some new churches supporting me, Hovind’s material in Spanish, and the starting of a Sunday morning service in my house.
Thanks again for all your continued prayers and support!
Because He shed His blood to atone for our sins,
