Welcome! Here you will find all of my prayer letters written ever since I started the ministry as a Missionary to Honduras, and then as I now am as a Missionary to the Spanish-Speaking People of the Americas. We hope to update this with our current prayer letter that we send out every two months.

March - April 2009

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you.                 (1 Peter 1:3-4)

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus our Lord,

God is good, and his mercies endure for ever!  We are so pleased to have the privilege of serving Him, that our joy abounds without measure.  Unspeakable are the many blessings God has bestowed upon us in the past few months.  One of the greatest joys is our lovely daughter, who turned 4 months old on the tenth of April.  She is so cute, and her continual smiles remind us just how fortunate we really are!

PRESENTING THE WORK

As most of you know, we are on deputation again trying to raise more support for our ministry.  As we travel to different churches to present the work, we are also planning trips to Mexico, Honduras, and other places, as we continue on our missionary journeys, taking the Gospel with us where so ever we go.
In March and April, we were blessed to stay close to home with meetings in North Florida.  At one Missions conference, we experienced great fellowship, but not without grave sickness.  Christians truly share everything with one another, especially their colds and flus.  Laura, myself, and the baby fell ill almost two weeks with a fever and cough after the conference.  But we persevered and came through the stronger.  As the old saying goes, “Whatever doesn’t kill us, makes us stronger!

PRINTING MINISTRY UPDATE

Our support level is not as high as we’d like it, so we’ve learned to do as much as we can with what we do receive.  We also aren’t too proud to take handouts, hand me downs, or leftovers.  Frugality is our motto, thankfulness is our demeanor, and fidelity is our goal.
In March, Laura helped me build a small dark room out of leftover wood we had on the property from the previous owners.  We installed a floor and one wall.  We lack several walls before we can have our printing office ready to go.  We’ll then have to buy the plates, chemicals, ink, and paper for printing tracts on the machine that’s been donated to us the end of last year.  Until then, we are still using our old laser printer to print tracts and booklets, as we are still getting many requests for our literature in both English and Spanish.  Please pray we would be able to get our new printing press up and running soon.

PRECIOUS SOUL GETS SAVED!

It seems so hard to win souls in these last days.  So many people are completely enthralled in sinful depravity and worldly lusts, they want nothing of God, nor Christ’s blood atonement.  It seems the more you preach the Gospel, the less results you see.  But our job is not to look for results, rather to be faithful in pointing the lost and dying world to the cross of Calvary.
Soul winning is like catching fish.  When you are fishing, and you don’t catch anything, it’s not fun.  But when you are fishing, and you pull one up on the line, it can be an exciting time.  The only thing better is when you have a fish jump into the boat!  Well, the end of April, God tossed one right into my lap, as I checked my email and saw a letter from a twenty-seven-year-old man asking me to call him and tell him how to be saved.  I did, and we talked for over thirty minutes, as I gave him verses on salvation.  To make a long story short, he trusted the SHED BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST to save his never dying soul, right there over the telephone!  Afterwards, he had a concern for his wife, a lost Lutheran.  I then gave him a list of verses on how to win her to the Lord, and he said he’d show them to her.  Please pray she’d get saved as well.

CHRISTIAN POLITICS

I’ve always been an outsider ever since I was a kid, never really fitting in with any one group.  When I became a Christian, I was naïve enough to think all Christians were alike, and each one loved the other with an undying love.  I never knew there were cliques and groups not only within Baptist churches, but even within the Independent Baptist movement itself.  Boy, did I have a lot to learn!
As most of you know, there are several big camps within the Independent Baptist movement, each one built upon a man (Bob Jones, Peter Ruckman, Jack Hyles, J. Frank Norris, etc.)  Usually, these camps only invite missionaries from their own camps in to their churches to present their work and preach.  But if they are all worshipping the same God, preaching the same Gospel, and standing firm on the same doctrines, shouldn’t they all work together?
Sadly, most independent Baptists are so firmly entrenched in their own camps, they will not even give those without their group the time of day. This is why on deputation, the most asked question of us by many pastors and missionaries is, “What camp are you in?
I enjoy answering: “We are without the camp with Jesus!” (See Hebrews 13:13 for further particulars).
Amidst this “groupism” mentality among Independent Baptists, it’s getting harder and harder to raise support as a missionary.  We are continually getting doors slammed in our faces, because we aren’t part of their secret society.  But our desire is not to be “groupies,” rather followers of Christ.  Christian society is not as important and Christian piety.
Please pray for us, as we not only battle the world, the flesh, and the devil, but we also are faced with Baptist discrimination.  This spiritual apartheid mentality can be discouraging at times, but we thank God for people like you who know our hearts, are interested in what we are doing, and share our desire in reaching the lost.

1602 PURIFIED

We continually receive emails from people who want a pure Spanish Bible.  As most of you know, our home church in Mexico has worked over 16 years on giving the Spanish-Speaking world a pure Spanish Bible, based upon the Textus Receptus and Hebrew Masoretic Texts, underlying the King James Bible.  We don’t only think our 1602 Purified is the best Spanish Bible, but are hearing many such claims from Spanish Speakers around the globe, emailing us their praises of our version.
Many of you might have heard of the new Reina-Valera Gomez bible coming out, competing with our 1602 Purified.  I’ve studied the Gomez extensively, and have written a brief treatise about that version and why our 1602 Purified is better.  To read it, go to:

Thanks again for all your continued prayers and support!

Because He shed His precious Blood for even us,
