Dear Fellow Believers in Christ Jesus our Lord,
Greetings once again in that name above every name, the Lord Jesus Christ! September brought some highs and lows, as I’ve seen doors opened, and doors starting to shut. But I’m thankful for the opportunity to be here serving the Lord, and trying to reach the lost with the Gospel of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
SOME VISITORS
During the month of September, I was blessed to have Bro. William Park and his family come down and visit me for a week. They are a real blessing, and we had a great time together. They also helped me with visiting, and inviting kids to my house to celebrate Children’s Day on the 13th. Over 113 children showed up in all for services!!! I had a young preacher named Alexis preach to them, and then we divided them into groups to break two piñatas. The children were very excited and had a great time.
The 16th through the 21st, Bro. Bob Adams came and spent some time with me. He’s from WINGS Bearing Precious Seed, and we had a wonderful time together. I had him either preaching or teaching each night he was with me, and I translated.
SOULS SAVED!
Bro. Park’s mother in law is a real go-getter, when it comes to presenting the Gospel, and while she was here, she won two ladies to the Lord in my neighborhood. Their names were Jubertina Ramos Orealla (birthdate April 23, 1972), and Metodia Suyapa Vasquez (born July 7th 1971). Please keep them in your prayers.
SOME PROBLEMS
The work in El Carrizal is going well, as we are having new visitors each week. However, we are having problems with the Landlord of the place and will have to move soon. We’ve looked around the area and are unable to find another place to meet. Please pray for this. This is a wonderful area to start a church, and there is property for sale down the road in a very excellent location. But we have no funds to purchase property. All we know to do is trust God to supply a place to meet.
SOME OPEN DOORS
Despite the problems we are having in El Carrizal, the Lord is opening doors in other places to get the Gospel out. I have inherited a work in Quebrada de Lajas from the “Central American Missions” (an organization started by C.I. Scofield in the early 1900’s). They were unable to continue the work, and have asked me to carry it on. I agreed to do so, and am now preaching and teaching in this little Indian village in the mountains outside of La Esperanza where I live. I am having a wonderful time with these Lenca Indians, who appear to be some of the nicest people in the world. We are meeting in the house of Jose Martír Martines. Down the road lives his sister who accepted the Lord one night while I preached in services. Please keep this endeavour in your prayers.
I’ve also started a Bible Study at the Cancer Center in Tegucigalpa where I spend the night after Sunday services. I have anywhere from 15 to 20 people who come to listen to me teach. Many of them are cancer patients, and are in great need both physically and spiritually.
THE SPANISH BIBLE ISSUE
The Lord is also blessing with a new ministry. I have an website on the Internet with much information about the Spanish Bible Issue. Each week I get an average of two or three emails from people asking the question, “Which Bible in Spanish is the word of God?” There are several Spanish Bibles that “Fundamentalists” use today. They are the 1865 Valera, the “Antigua” 1909 Reina-Valera, and the modern 1960 Reina-Valera. Each one of these versions is based on the original 1602 Valera, but each one reads with the corrupt “Critical Texts” of man in certain key places (the 1960 more than the others). As a King James Bible Believer, I am thankful to have the pure words of God in English from the Textus Receptus or Received Texts. But in Spanish, it is a different story. Even the original 1602 Valera has some readings from the corrupt Latin Vulgate, and does not read 100% with the Textus Receptus and King James. This has always been a vexation to me, as I feel the Spanish speaking people ought to have the pure words of God in their language as well.
Ever since God called me to the Mission field, I began studying the Spanish Bible Issue, and I wrote a book entitled, “A Brief Look at the History of the Spanish Bible,” which I’ve revised on many occasions (and I am enclosing the latest edition with this prayer letter to keep you informed of the Issue).
In August of 2001, before coming to the field, I attended a Spanish Bible Conference at “Iglesia Biblica Bautista de Gracia” in Monterrey, Mexico, which Bro. Bob Adams told me about. The church there has been working for over seven years on the task of purifying the 1602 Spanish Bible, with the Textus Receptus, the King James, and other versions of the Spanish Bible before 1602 based on the Textus Receptus. What they have produced was a Spanish New Testament (The 1602 Restaurada or “Restored”) that is completely free of Critical Text readings (unlike the 1865 Spanish Bible that reads with Tischendorf, Tregellis, and others on occasion), and reads with both the Textus Receptus and the King James while honoring the original desire and heritage of the original 1602 Valera. I have been using this New Testament here on the Mission field, grateful to have the pure words of God for the people to read and study. I also have many people on the Internet asking for one, and I am sending out two to three New Testaments a week all over the world to people who are also looking for the pure words of God in Spanish.
Bro. William Park brought me 12 cases of these 1602 TR’s (as I call them) when he visited me this month, and I was thankful to get them!
The Old Testament still lacks being finished, and they are working on purifying it as well, with the pure Hebrew Text of Ben-Chayim, instead of the corrupt Nazi text of Kittle. Please pray for this endeavour, so that someday the Spanish Speaking world will have a pure, complete Bible in their own language.
Thanks again for all your prayers and support. Not only am I busy trying to get the Gospel to the people of Honduras, but also desire to get the pure words of God to them in their language as well. Please pray for me!
Because of Christ Jesus our blessed Lord and Saviour,
