Welcome! Here you will find all of my prayer letters written ever since I started the ministry as a Missionary to Honduras, and then as I now am as a Missionary to the Spanish-Speaking People of the Americas. We hope to update this with our current prayer letter that we send out every two months.

July 2008

To preach the gospel in the regions beyond…   (2 Cor. 10:16)

            Dear Fellow Prayer Warriors,

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ!  The month of July has been an exciting and adventuresome month of travel and evangelism.  And God’s further confirmed the call he’s given me in my life, as the farther I travel, the more I met Hispanic people waiting to hear the Gospel.
It wasn’t all lilies and roses though, as the devil was faithful in showing us he hates us.  But God’s still on the throne, and we trust him always in all things.

OUR TRIP TO ALASKA

I had a meeting with a pastor in Anchorage, Alaska, planned for the second week of July.  However, due to uncontrollable circumstances, our meeting was canceled.  This left Laura and I with a ticket to Alaska with no church to preach in there.
Thankfully, my Mom lives in Nome, Alaska, so she picked us up at the airport and flew us to her home.  There we had a wonderful time fishing, hiking, and passing out tracts everywhere we went as we explored the country.  I was even asked to preach in the Independent Baptist Church there on Sunday Morning!
At the end of our trip, however, the Pastor in Anchorage rescheduled our meeting, and I preached for him one Thursday evening towards the end of our trip.

MEXICANS IN ANCHORAGE

In Anchorage, we met some Spanish-speakers from Guadalajara, Mexico.  I witnessed to them and then gave them a Gospel tract.  Before leaving the states, we printed up 1200 English Gospel tracts, as we didn’t think we’d run into Hispanics in Alaska.  Luckily, I found a few tracts in Spanish in my jacket pocket, and these were the first tracts I handed out in Alaska!  Of all the places we’ve been, I never expected to find Hispanics in Alaska.  But they are there, and they need to hear the Gospel too!

SPANIARDS IN NOME

In Nome, Alaska (population 3000), we drove to the small port and looked at the crabbing and fishing boats.  We also found three sailboats docked.  The most beautiful was a 68-foot custom-made, dual-mast ship.  As I stood admiring it, the owners asked me to come aboard and speak with them.  Care to guess which language they spoke?  You guessed it!  They spoke Spanish and they came from Spain.
I witnessed to the captain who told me he had the boat built three years ago and has plans to navigate the Northern Passage above Canada on his way back towards Spain.  As we talked, our conversation turned towards salvation, and I had the opportunity to tell him the Gospel!
His words were, “I don’t understand the whole sin debt thing.  When man is born, he’s born into debt.  How can anyone get out of debt?”
I then told him, “Jesus Christ paid our sin debt on Calvary, and if we accept his blood sacrifice for our sins by faith in his blood, then we can be born again and have our debt forgiven!”
He listened and seemed to understand, but said he needed to think it over more.  Please pray for his salvation.
So there I was, as far away from Spanish Speaking people as possible, and as far away from Spain as you can get, and there I met Spanish-speaking people from Spain!  And God used me to say the right word in the right language to the right folks at the right time!

TRAVELLING TO VILLAGES

Alaska truly is as its state motto declares, The Last Frontier.  Population there is scarce, and it’s hard to find people to pass out tracts to.  But we sure had a wonderful time trying.
Mom let us borrow her vehicle, and Laura and I traveled as far as we could on the three main highways out of Nome.  A hundred and twenty miles to the North is the village of Taylor, but the river was too high to pass in Mom’s little car, so we turned back.
The Nome-Council Highway extends east and arrives in the small village of Council after 60 miles.  Sadly, the village is small and off the beaten path and hard to get to.  Most people in Alaska travel by plane, so the roads are very seldom in good condition.
We did arrive in Teller though, a small community on the west side facing Russia.  (Russia is only 160 miles due west across the Bering Strait).  This small fishing village of only 252 people is nestled along the Bering sea.  There we passed out tracts, mostly to native Eskimos.  And then we fished for salmon.
Alaska is the least church-going state in the nation, and we saw first hand the need for Missionaries.  Incest, drunken debauchery, rape, fornication, and petty thievery run rampant, especially among the Eskimos in the smaller villages.  With no roads to the majority of villages, and food hard to find, people live on fish, seals, and whale meat.
Their greatest need, however, is that of salvation.  Please pray that God would send more Missionaries to Alaska!
As I bravely faced the cold and boldly traveled to areas most people wouldn’t, some of the native Eskimos gave me the name of “Alaska Man.”  I guess my time of living on the bare essentials in Honduras prepared me for the rugged lifestyle in Alaska.

GETTING ROBBED

Exhausted, we returned home on the 23rd of July, only to find that our house had been broken into.  The thieves made off with about six thousand dollars worth of stuff—almost all the valuable things we had.  Most of it was things we brought back with us from Honduras.
Needless to say we were devastated.  But we’ve since learned to give thanks in all things (no matter how hard it might be).  We are not our own, we are bought with a price, so we’ve got to learn to give it all to God and let him do as he wishes.   At least now we can identify with verses by the apostle Paul when he writes things like: “In journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by mine own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren” (2 Cor. 11:26)

Thanks again for all your continued prayers and support,

            Robert and Laurabeth Breaker III

May - June 2008

Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.  Abstain from all appearance of evil... Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.  Brethren, pray for us.  (1 Thes. 5:21-22 & 24-25)

Dear fellow soldiers in the army of the Lord,

The three most important doctrines of the Christian faith are those of salvation, sanctification, and the scriptures.  As we battle religious apostasy in these last days, we continually find those who call themselves Bible Believers departing from these basic fundamentals.  How sad to see that many have chosen compromise instead of conviction.  But we remain stedfast and unmoveable in the work of the Lord, preaching the Old Time Way of salvation, the old King James Bible, and the need for Christians to live sanctified, Spirit-filled lives.
I wish I could say that because of our harsh stand we’ve prospered and have been blessed beyond measure.  However the opposite is true.  We’ve receive opposition from every side, especially from those who once stood with us.  With each passing year we feel more alone, as more preachers and pastors depart from God’s word to follow man’s vain traditions, choosing the way of ease and prosperity instead of suffering reproach for the sake of Christ.  But we thank God for those faithful few, like yourselves, that have tarried with the stuff (1 Sam. 30:24), and have purposed in their hearts like Daniel not to defile themselves (Dan. 1:8), nor cower down to increasing religious and political pressure to bow the knee to Baal (Rom. 11:4).  And though our numbers slowly dwindle, we encourage you to stand fast in the faith (1 Cor. 16:13), “redeeming the time, because the days are evil,” (Eph. 5:16) “...for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.” (James 5:8)

FINALLY BEING ORDAINED!

Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.  (1 Tim. 1:6)

In August of 2001, I left for Honduras as a missionary sent from my old church in Florida.  A few weeks before leaving, I asked to be ordained, as Paul in Acts 13:1-5, desiring to follow the word of God completely.  However, I was told, “We don’t do that here.  You go and start a work, and when you come back, we might ordain you.”
They never did, and that always bothered me.  It was also one of the reasons I felt that God wanted me to leave that church.  It wasn’t until this year that my dream of being ordained came to pass.
Laura and I traveled to our home church in Monterrey, Mexico and my Pastor, Bro. Raul Reyes, held an ordination service in my honor on Sunday, May 25th, 2008.  All the men of the church came forward and placed their hands on me and prayed for me.  I am finally ordained and sent Biblically according to the word of God!

THE PURE WORD OF GOD FINALLY IN SPANISH!

...but the word of God is not bound.  (2 Tim. 2:9)

When I went to Honduras the first time in 1998, all I had was the corrupt 1960 Critical Text Spanish Bible, which reads with the corrupt English RSV on many occasions.  As I studied why that Spanish Bible had errors, I learned about the movement towards a pure Spanish Bible, and during that time, my old home church began defending the 1865 Mora and Pratt perversion, claiming it was the best.  But after studying that version, I found it to be a Valera-Catholic hybrid, which also contained critical text readings.  (Another reason I decided to leave that church).
But thank God for my home church in Monterrey Mexico, which has faithfully translated the Bible into Spanish using the Textus Receptus in the New Testament, and the Hebrew Ben-Chayim in the Old Testament, as well as collating older Castellan Bibles, and the KJV, publishing it under the name of the 1602 Purficada (The purified 1602 Spanish Bible)!
THE WHOLE BIBLE IS FINALLY FINISHED AND 5000 WHOLE BIBLES HAVE BEEN PRINTED with another 30,000 NEW TESTAMENTS!  Thank God we can finally get people a pure whole Spanish Bible with no critical text readings whatsoever!
However, we are continually praying for more funds in order to print more whole Bibles.  The need is great, and there are many who want a copy, but the church is small, and funds are wanting.  Please pray that we might find churches and printing presses willing to print this whole Spanish Bible. (P.S. I drove up to Tennesse in June to get 500 copies.  I now have these available for those interested.)
MY BOOK FINALLY PRINTED!

...I have written briefly, exhorting, and testifying that this is the true grace of God wherein ye stand. (1 Peter 5:12)

As the darkness of apostasy hangs like a cloud over the church, the doctrine of salvation has been continually attacked and yeah, even changed.  Shallow soul winning abounds in our churches and no one seems to be bold enough to say anything about it.  Sadly, the precious, soul-saving blood of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ is being treaded underfoot by compromising mega church movements who care more about gaining numbers than true converts.
With this in mind, I wrote a book entitled, “The Importance of the Blood of Jesus Christ.” I wanted to get this book out several months ago, but lack of support, time, and ink have hindered me.  But thank God for my Dad, who’s helped my ministry in many ways.  With his help, I’m finally able to send out this humble work to you.  May it remind you of the importance of not only mentioning the blood of Jesus when you preach the Gospel to lost souls, but encourage you to stress their need of trusting solely upon the blood atonement of Christ as their only means of salvation.  For even though apostates modernists don’t believe it, and don’t preach it, THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST HIS SON IS THE ONLY THING THAT CAN WASH OUR SINS AWAY!!!

FINALLY SEEING SOULS SAVED!

...He which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins. (James 5:20)

In these last minutes before the rapture, it’s getting harder and harder to win souls.  You know the feeling, sometimes you feel like your banging your head against the wall telling lost souls how to be born again, but they just don’t respond.  Most are just not interested.  They care only about cars, houses, land, riches, entertainment and sinful pleasures.
This makes it easy to get discouraged, especially when we are actively trying to win people to Jesus Christ.  And sometimes we go through spiritual droughts where we see no fruit in our ministry.  But just when we think we can’t take it anymore, and God doesn’t love us, that’s when God sends the “showers of blessings.”
While in Mexico in June, we traveled to Tampico, where I preached for Pastor Silvestre Vasquez.  On Saturday night, after I preached a Gospel message to the young people, a young man came down the aisle and trusted Jesus Christ as his Saviour!  We also saw a few more saved while I preached there on Sunday and Monday!

FINAL WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT!

Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.  (Titus 2:8)

Probably the greatest sin in the church today is gossip.  People say things they should not, and others get hurt because of it.  But this ought not so to be.  The Bible commands us in James 4:11, “Speak not evil one of another, brethren…”
I mention this as my wife and I have recently been vehemently attacked by jealous and misunderstanding brethren, and it has cost us several meetings and support.  Further willing to hurt, instead of uplift and encourage, they’ve spread vicious lies saying ridiculous things like, “Robert Breaker is a bad missionary because he writes books and spends all day on the computer working on his website instead of winning souls.”
But they speak that which they know not (Jude 1:9).  I’m out soul winning and passing out tracts every week, and every day when I’m on trips evangelizing.  I’ve also not worked on my website much.  My Dad’s been so good to me to help me with it, as he’s been the one updating it.  Further, I honestly didn’t know it was a sin to write books!  Does that mean the Apostle Paul was a bad apostle for writing thirteen epistles?  What about men like: Charles H. Spurgeon, Watchman Nee, John Bunyan, John R. Rice, R.A. Torrey, Andrew Murray, Peter S. Ruckman, M.R. DeHaan, Sam Gipp etc.?
Normally, I wouldn’t mention attacks such as these against us in a prayer letter.  I bring this up only to say a hearty “Thank You!” to all of you who know us, and have stood with us and encouraged us through all of this.  Thanks again for all your continued prayers and support!   It is easy to get discouraged, but God is still on the throne.  And I’ve learned most of the time our discouragement comes from where our focus is.  While in Monterrey, my Pastor told me that we should not dwell on the bad things we see, rather on the good.  In other words, our sight should be on things above, not on things below (Col. 3:2).  His words of encouragement strengthened me, and God gave me a message to preach my last night there from Numbers chapter 13 entitled: “What do you see: Giants or Grapes?”  I won’t explain the sermon, as the title is self-explanatory. But I would like to leave you with a word of encouragement.  Though the giants (problems, trials, and tribulations) might be big in our lives, God always leaves enough grapes (blessings) to supply our need, and show us that he loves us.  So just keep serving God, for with God on our side, we can defeat any giant just like David did!

Looking up for our redemption draweth nigh,

            Robert and Laurabeth Breaker III

SOME FAITHFUL MEN WE’VE MET

In our last days, just seconds before the rapture, it’s good to know that not everyone has departed from sound Biblical doctrine, and there are others out there still preaching the blood, the book, and the blessed hope.  These last two months, I’ve met some of them, and have had a great time with them.  I’ve also learned some things from them.  “Iron sharpeneth iron,” the Bible says, and it’s good to fellowship and learn from men who’ve been in the ministry for long periods of time, and remain stedfast, unwavering in their beliefs and convictions.

BRO. JOHN CRISP IN AMERICAS, KANSAS

Bro. John Crisp in Americas, Kansas has been in the ministry for over 20 years.  And not only is he a Pastor, but also a real-life shepherd.  We had a great meeting with him the 3rd to the 12th of May.  He taught me a lot about sheep.  Did you know sheep have tails?  I was surprised to see this, as most modern sheep wranglers cut the tails of their flock.
As we walked the pasture and saw the sheep, Bro. Crisp expounded many Biblical truths to me about sheep and shepherds.              The most amazing thing was seeing how he had them all named, and they knew their names and came when they were called!
It was also interesting to see that he knew each one, and could tell them apart.  They all looked exactly the same to me, but as a shepherd, he’d spent enough time with them and knew them and their characteristics.
Bro. Crisp explained how keeping sheep helped him to pastor a church.  He then told me how people are like sheep in many ways:  they whine, they hunger, they fight, they seek approval, and more.  But what stood out most in my mind was how needy sheep are.  They are one of the only animals that exist on earth that can’t live without someone to protect them!
Bro. Crisp also has an organic farm, and taught me a lot about tilling the ground.  He also taught us many things about planting and harvesting.  The spiritual lessons of this to soul winning are boundless, and there is not enough time or space here to present examples.
Probably the most important lesson I learned, was the importance of having something that’s natural and organic—i.e. MADE BY GOD, instead of things that come from chemicals and genetic engineering—i.e. MADE BY MAN.  For a diet of what man offers will make you weak, but the things God offers will strengthen and nourish you to help you grow!

PASTOR SILVESTRE VASQUEZ IN TAMPICO

Bro. Silvestre Vasquez is Pastor of Iglesia Bautista Nuevo Tampico in Tampico, Mexico, which he started in 1990.  Bro. Silvestre is a hard, stern man who’s known for his righteous indignation against apostasy and vain tradition in the church.  In fact, some have labeled him, “The Ruckman of Mexico.”
But I found Bro. Vasquez to be the most humble and caring man, full of wisdom and profound words of advice.
May 30th to June 3rd, my wife and I had a great time of fellowship with Bro. Vasquez and his family.  And we found a man who not only serves God of a pure heart, but also gives of himself willingly to the cause of Christ, spreading himself thin at times.
Along with his duties as Pastor, Bro. Vasquez also prints a bi-monthly publication called La Voz Bautista de Mexico (The Baptist Voice of Mexico), written mostly to Pastors, compelling them to stand firm on sound doctrine, as well as encouraging them to live a holy Christian life.  His magazine also exposes false teachings such as evolution, pentecostalism, the modern tongues and healing movement, and more
His skills as a prolific writer, complement his ability to preach in Spanish.  And God has given him a great orating gift.  I’ve never met a man who can give an invitation at the end of service better than Bro. Silvestre Vasquez!

March - April 2008

That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.  (Phil. 2:15,16)

            Dear Fellow Saints of God,

The sign of the times proves we are closer to the rapture than ever!  As our economy worsens, and the choices for president are either an ex-Muslim or a woman socialist, the future in this world looks mighty dim.  That’s why it’s more important than ever to be SHINING LIGHTS amidst a world of darkness, HOLDING FORTH THE WORD OF LIFE as faithful witnesses of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ!

NEWS FROM A FAR

The churches in Honduras continue strongly, and I stay in contact with them often via cell phone.  Last month, Hotir told us, “Clemente recently won an 80-year-old woman to the Lord.  She started coming to church, but died less than two weeks later.  Her drunk son beat her to death.  At least she’s now free from pain and suffering!”
We also received news that Irene’s 60-year-old husband trusted Christ as his Saviour in March.  Irene is the sweet old lady in church whom everyone looks up to.  We’d been praying for her husband for years, and were excited to hear he trusted Jesus as his Saviour.

NEWS FROM THE DEPUTATION TRAIL

Most of March, I spent on the phone calling pastors and trying to set up meetings in the states.  This is my least favorite thing to do, and it seems much harder in these last days to find good sound Bible Believing churches.  But, God blessed in giving us several meetings.  March 16th, I preached in a church in Castleberry, Alabama, and the end of March, I traveled up to Richmond, Virginia and preached in a church there.
In April, I preached in a church in New Jersey, and then traveled to New York City to visit an old friend.  We had a good time of fellowship, and then saw the city, passing out tracts along the way.

NEWS FROM OUR FAMILY

The second week of April we attended a family reunion in Virginia.  We had a great time of fellowship with Laura’s family, and we told them the news.  Laura is pregnant again!  We covet your prayers during this pregnancy, as we trust God to bless us with a healthy child this time.

NEWS ON OUR FUTURE PLANS

As most of you know, my plans are to travel as the Apostle Paul and preach the Gospel on Missionary Journeys.  We are planning many trips now, but first, we have a meeting in Kansas next month, and then we plan to go to our home church in Monterrey, Mexico the end of May, where I’m to be ordained.
I have a Pastor in Honduras that wants me to come and preach for one month solid every day.  He wants me to help him start a Bible Institute, and much more.
Also, Erick Sanchez wants me to schedule a week-long teaching service in Honduras, where I’ll be talking to over 50 Pastors on the subject of the Spanish Bible Issue.  I ask you to keep these meetings in prayer.

NEWS ON OUR SMALL PRINTING MINISTRY

God has blessed us with a color Konica Magicolor Laser printer.  It’s a small machine, but works well for us, and I would like to thank my Dad for giving it to us for the ministry.
We are now able to print many more books and tracts.  This is why I’m enclosing a catalog of my works.  We’ve been receiving quite a few orders lately, and it has helped pay the bills.
We don’t charge a flat rate for the material, but ask for a gift to pay for the printing and shipping.  This has worked out well for us, and we’ve seen God bless.
As our printing ministry grows, we will be printing things in English and Spanish.  We would like to do more, but can only do the best we can.  We also could use more printing equipment.  If you have something to donate, please let me know.  Our greatest need is a cutter that trims the edges of books.

So that’s the news from the Breaker Family.  We have many plans, but with the current political situation and rising prices of gasoline, it will only get harder and harder.  Thus, we covet your prayers!

Thanks again for all your continued giving.  We appreciate your sacrifice.

            Because He loved even us,

            Robert and Laurabeth Breaker

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ.  (Eph. 1:3)

Greetings in the name of our wonderful and blessed Saviour Jesus Christ,

God has heaped upon us showers of blessings these last two months, and the many seeds we’ve planted in service to our Lord and King have blossomed forth unto abundant fruit.  What joy it is to serve the Lord!  And greater still to see that our labour is not in vain!

THE LONG TRIP

The 21st of January, after having sold most of our things, we loaded my Suburban with all we had left in the world and embarked upon a nine-day journey overland from Honduras to the United States.  It was an agonizing trip through Guatemala and Mexico, but we had a wonderful time, as we passed out tracts the whole way.  We were stopped eight times by the military in Mexico, and handed out Bibles and New Testaments to soldiers on several occasions.  The only real problem on the trip was with our own U.S. immigration service at the border town of Brownsville, Texas.  At first they didn’t want to allow my truck into the country because it had Honduras license plates.  But after some explaining, sweating, and prayer, they eventually allowed us to enter the country.
I’d driven from Honduras to the states before, but always someone else drove.  This was the first time I braved the trip “solo.”  Laura and I had a great time, and felt safe the entire way.  We feel confident we can make this journey again anytime in the future.
We also saw the open border policy in Honduras with Guatemala.  Now it does not cost a dime to pass from one country to another in Central America.

THE GREAT NEED

Upon arriving in the United States of America, we did what all Missionaries who’ve just come back from the field do—we went to Wal-mart!  There I noticed that all the products and signs were in both English and Spanish.  And, I heard two hispanics talking.  One said to the other, “There are so many of us illegals here in America, that they are beginning to put our language on all the products.  This makes it easier for us to understand.”
Conservatively, there are between 30 to 50 million illegal aliens in the United States of America.  Who will go and reach them?  What can you do to give them the Gospel?

THE BLESSED FRUIT

Before leaving Honduras, I called the church in El Tejar together and we had a special meeting.  The church then voted in three deacons.  These include:  Clemente, Leonidas, and Hotir.
I also spent some time teaching these men classes on How to Prepare and Deliver Sermons.  They are now preaching in the church and in mission works in the mountains. And, Clemente recently won two ladies to the Lord!
In our other church in Quebrada de Lajas, another disciple of mine, 16 year old Adonai Arriaga, has begun preaching in services.  He is a meek and quiet boy who doesn’t speak loudly, but he has a heart for God!
I am receiving phone call after phone call here in the U.S. from people I’ve led to the Lord in Honduras, all thanking me for teaching and preaching to them.  I recently heard from 21 year old Salvador who is now preaching in the mountains also (he came to my class on preparing and delivering sermons as well).
So God has used our time in Honduras and has blessed with faithful men who have also surrendered their lives to the Lord’s service and are preaching the blessed Gospel of Christ’s sacrificial blood atonement!

GETTING OUR HOUSE IN ORDER AND PLANNING

We are now in our home in Alabama, and plan to stay here while I do the tedious work of calling Pastors and setting up meetings.  As we travel and do more much-needed deputation in the U.S., we will be planning missionary journeys back to Honduras, Guatemala, and other places, while we also try to reach the lost hispanic population in America.  Please pray that God will give us the support we need to do this awesome task set before us.  (Also, a special thanks to all of you that have been giving more lately to help us in our time of need!)
Lastly, if you know of any others looking to support Missionaries, please let me know.  I’ve found it’s getting harder and harder to find good sound Bible Believing Christians and Churches in these last days.

ONE LAST THOUGHT

As we traveled through Guatemala, we saw volcano after volcano, many bellowing forth white clouds of smoke.  As I watched them angrily vent their impending doom, I thought about the fiery lava pits of hell, and how important it is to win souls.  Hell slumbers not, and like those ominous volcanoes, no one knows when its fury shall be unleashed.  That’s why it’s so important to reach lost souls for Christ!
This is why I’m enclosing the new Gospel tract I’ve recently written in both English and Spanish.  You might not be able to speak Spanish, but could I challenge you to at least pass out this one tract to a Hispanic person in your area?    This way you can reach lost Hispanics also!
If you like the tract in English, you are more then welcome to copy and distribute it too!

November - December 2007

Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.  (1 Cor. 15:58)

            Dear Fellow Prayer Partners,

There is so much news, and so little room to relay it all to you, so we’ll just give you the highlights.  God has been too good to us these past months, and we’ve been blessed with plenty of opportunities to serve Him.   We’ve even had the pleasure of taking the Gospel to places that have never heard it before!

NOVEMBER

The 5th-9th, Laura substituted for another Missionary’s wife in a Christian Bilingual School here in La Esperanza, Intibucá, Honduras.  She taught 25 rowdy kindergarteners.  Her exact words were, “Never again!”
The 22nd (Thanksgiving), we traveled to San Pedro Sula and I preached for Pastor Alex Vasquez, a Bible Believing Pastor in the small subdivision of Cerro Verde.
The 23rd-26th, we traveled by bus to Guatemala City, Guatemala, where I preached a Sunday Service for Missionary Carlos Donate, who’s in the states on a short furlough.  I also visited and preached in the Baptist Church in Tinco.  How awesome to see people in both works that I’d led to Christ there over a year ago growing in the Lord.
DECEMBER

The first of this month we traveled with Missionary Erick Sanchez to the small town of Minas de Oro (Gold Mines), a part of Honduras I’ve never been.  There we passed out tracts, and spent the night with Erick’s family.  Please pray for his lost father Santiago Bonilla.  We plan to return to this area in January and evangelize more.
The 12th-15th, we journeyed to the small town of Piraera, which we’ve visited several times already.  From there we traveled to a mountain village named El Joril, where to our knowledge no one has never heard the Gospel before. We visited house to house, and I preached in the community building on two separate evenings to a crowd of about one hundred people.  The next evening, Erick Sanchez led three souls to Christ!
I also preached one evening and taught one morning in the Baptist Church in the mountain village of San Sebastian (outside of Piraera) for pastor Florentino Aguilar.  Before giving my sermon, I was stung in the back of the neck by a four-and-half inch long scorpion!  Have you ever tried to preach when you can’t feel your lips or tongue?  The effects of it’s venom lasted well over 24 hours, and eventually made my whole body fall asleep (It was so bad, I couldn’t even walk!).  However, the next morning I felt able enough to teach for three hours about the doctrines of Salvation, Soul winning, and the Local Church (although I still couldn’t feel my lips).  Thank God that Honduras only has brown scorpions, and not the deadly black ones!
With a generator, (as there is no electricity in the area) we also showed one of my teaching videos about the errors of the Roman Catholic Church.  About a hundred people came, most of them lost Catholics.  Many became angry, and left, but those who stayed heard the Gospel thereafter.  Some even asked questions.
The angry ones manifested their disdain by placing lines of large, jagged rocks in the road so our truck could not pass.  We had to get out half a dozen times and move them in order to leave the area and drive back home.
Finally, I preached in the church we started here in La Esperanza, on the 23rd.  My message was, “The Gospel from a Piece of Candy,” and I showed the Gospel from a Candy Cane (see back of letter for details).  At the invitation Norma Isidro Vasquez came forward, and I personally led her to the Lord!  Afterwards, we had dinner on the grounds, and enjoyed a great time of fellowship!
Thanks for your continued prayers and support, as we continue to serve the Lord in both pleasure and pain.

October 2007

But we will not boast of things without our measure, but according to the measure of the rule which God hath distributed to us, a measure to reach even unto you.  For we stretch not ourselves beyond our measure, as though we reached not unto you: for we are come as far as to you also in preaching the gospel of Christ:                                       - 2 Cor. 10:13

Greetings from chilly Honduras!  As I write this, the temperature is in the 40’s, as we’ve been experiencing several strange and unexpected cold fronts.  But God keeps us busy, and it warms our hearts to carry the Gospel to others.

THE WORKS

God has blessed with faithful men who are slowly taking over responsibilities in the churches here.  This is an answer to prayer.  I preach on Sundays and on Thursdays.  I also teach the young people on Saturday nights and hold a Bible Study on Mondays.  Clemente (a man in our church who’s called to preach) has taken over Wednesday night Bible Study, and fills in when I’m taking the Gospel to other areas.  He also journeys weekly with Hotir to the mountains to evangelize in small villages, holding services in several homes.  Recently, Clemente won an elderly man to the Lord!

TAPING TEACHING DVDS

We desire to reach as many as possible with sound Bible literature.  The last several months Laura has recorded me on digital video teaching several Spanish Bible Studies.  Some of the topics include:  Creation vs Evolution, The History of the Church, The Truth about Catholicism, The Truth about Mormonism, The Truth about Jehovah Witnesses, The Seven Dispensations, The Two Comings of Christ, and The 7000 Years of History.  We have burned these to DVD and are already distributing them to Spanish Speaking Pastors.  I look forward to taping these in English.

STARTING A BIBLE INSTITUTE

Another of our ministry goals is to start Bible Institutes in different regions.  I’ve been creating Bible courses in Spanish and we are starting our first Bible Institute in La Esperanza, Honduras.  Our friend Missionary Erick Sanchez will run what we’ve named, The Lenca Bible Institute.   It will be available free to Baptist Pastors in the mountains.  There is a great need for sound Bible teaching in Honduras and we are glad to be a part of founding this school.

TRAVELING AND PREACHING

The 16th, we traveled to the small island of Roatan, off the northern coast of Honduras.  There we visited Pastor Glenn Solomon, a legendary Baptist minister who has started many churches here and on mainland Honduras.  We spoke with him for a long time, and learned he was once governor of the island.  He also served as the Honduran Ambassador to Jamaica for a few years, as well as a representative to the Honduran Congress.  He told us, “I’m the man who put forth the bill to celebrate the day of the Bible every year in September!”   This was very interesting!  “But,” he added, “I had to quit politics to serve God, as that’s more important!”  (If only some Pastors in the states would do this also!)  Pastor Glenn invited me to preach for him anytime, so we have an open door to return.
Afterwards I preached at La Iglesia Bautista el Buen Pastor for Pastor Perfecto Erazo in the city of La Ceiba.

Thanks for your continued prayers and support as we continue to do the work of a Missionary Evangelist, taking the right Gospel and the right Bible to Spanish Speaking sinners.

What is a Missionary Evangelist?

In this prayer letter, I’d like to write about something that I believe has gone unaddressed too long.  As most of you know, I’m not afraid to say what needs to be said!  As a pastor in Wyoming once told me, “I can tell your God isn’t man or money, because you don’t preach what people want to hear, rather what God gives you to tell them!”
After fourteen years of experience in the ministry, God has shown me a thing or two about apostasy in modern Missions, and I can no longer keep quiet, (especially since it’s affecting me personally more and more).  The modern Missions movement is almost to the point where it’s doing more harm than good!  Moreover, most churches are so confused about what Missionaries should do, that they often support those who don’t even preach the Gospel, while ridiculing and ceasing the support of others who do!
Instead of preaching the “Old Time Way,” many preachers have adopted a “New Way of Thinking,” and are guilty of preaching another gospel (Gal. 1:6-8).  For example, I recently heard a Baptist pastor in Mexico say the following blasphemous words, “We live in a day of change.  The world has changed, and so have people.  That’s why we must change the Gospel so that people will accept it!”
This is simply outrageous!  To change the truth is to preach apostasy.  That’s why I’m going to keep preaching the unchangeable Gospel and pointing people to Christ crucified (1 Cor. 2:2), no matter what the cost, (and yes there has been a cost!)
In this brief treatise, I desire to show how a lack of defining words can lead to so-called Christians turning against the very thing they are instructed to do—i.e. send out ministers who preach the Gospel.  I also want to explain the ministry God’s given me, so there will be no misunderstanding of what I’m called to do.
As the church sinks deeper into the lukewarmness of Laodicean confusion (Rev. 3:16), I’m utterly baffled by the lack of understanding, compassion, and patience in Christian churches.  CHARITY has been replaced with CRITICISM.  And instead of following the word of God, man has devised a “New Way of Working” for the Lord—working his way instead of God’s way.
But, what if man’s way is not Biblical?  And what if man, in his new way of doing things fulfills his objectives instead of God’s?  Sadly, I believe this is exactly what has happened.
The early apostles loved the Lord Jesus Christ so much they forsook all (Luke 5:11), and willingly gave their lives for the Gospel, suffering outrageous sorrows and even death (Rev. 17:6).  Yet in the 21st century, Christians don’t even love God enough to LIVE for Him, much less DIE for Him!
The Bible speaks of the church today in Revelation chapter three as Laodicea, the wickedest of all the seven churches.  It’s the one that completely kicked God out! (Rev. 3:20).  Everything this church does is in God’s name, but it hasn’t even let God in.  It is working without God’s power.  In other words, its working in the FLESH, instead of through God’s SPIRIT.  (And many times it does what it wants instead of what God instructed it to do!)
Because of its carnal character, modern Christianity has become more focused on the WAY it works instead of WHAT God has instructed it to do, especially on the subject of Missions.  Let me give you a few examples.
I recently heard the story of a church canceling a Missionary’s support with the excuse, “We no longer want to support you, because you ventured out of the PLACE you said you were called to preach, and have begun preaching the Gospel in another area.  We find it devious of you to take the Gospel to a place you didn’t say you were going!”
But does it matter WHERE a missionary goes with the Gospel?  Shouldn’t just PREACHING the Gospel be the most important thing?  How could anyone call taking the Gospel to another area, “devious?”
This Laodicean teaching that a man is only called TO A PLACE, rather than the Biblical teaching of TO PEOPLE, has led churches (like those in the example above) to drop Missionary’s support for going somewhere else with the Gospel.  But God allows us to preach the Gospel anywhere and everywhere we go! In fact, he commands it!  (Mk 16:15)
I heard of another church dropping support to a Missionary for the following ridiculous reason: “Your claiming that you are called to a certain group of people is too vague, and we aren’t going to support a person who doesn’t tell us specifically where he’s going to preach the Gospel.”
But shouldn’t a Missionary be someone who takes the Gospel to all the lost? Should man limit God?  The Modern Mission System does just that when it teaches that a Missionary is someone who’s only called to a PLACE, instead of to PEOPLE.  (Acts 1:8)
A Missionary should be free to travel and preach as the Lord leads with the goal of leading as many as possible to Jesus Christ.  Where was the Apostle Paul called?  The answer: “To everywhere he went!”
Sadly, most modern churches in America don’t have a clue of what a Missionary or an Evangelist is, or what he’s supposed do.  In fact, apostate Christianity has moved so far away from the Bible, that we are almost to the point where Christians are doing the exact opposite of what the early church did and preached!  I’m sure the apostle Paul would turn over in his grave if he knew what’s happening now in the name of Missions.
Rather than make the Gospel the most important thrust of Missions, most of those who call themselves Missionaries today do anything but preach the glorious story of Christ’s blood atonement.  Instead of stressing the importance of trusting the SHED BLOOD, modern Missions has invented a “New Mission Objective” instituting SOCIAL PROGRAMS, which care only for the physical needs of man—instead of man’s most important need, a SPIRITUAL NEW BIRTH!  Instead of preaching the PROPITIATION of Christ, they have set up their own PRIESTHOOD, where converts become dependent upon the MISSIONARY and his money rather than on God’s promises.  This has led to the downfall of modern Christianity and has changed it from SPIRIT LED, to SPIRITUALLY DEAD!
Medical Missions, orphanages, feeding centers, housing programs, secular education schools and clothing distribution organizations are now commonplace, and these are foremost objectives of the MISSIONS MOVEMENT.  Sadly, the preaching of the Gospel has become second place.  Instead of meeting the spiritual needs of man, most modern day Mission Boards encourage missionaries to cater only to man’s carnal needs.  And instead of telling people of the FREE GIFT of eternal life, most are more interested in giving physical GIFTS to the impoverished masses, setting up a society of takers instead of givers, making people more dependent upon the Missionary than on the Lord.  (Note: I’m certainly not against doing any of these things, and none of these things are bad if they are used to open doors to preach the Gospel.  The problem is these Social programs are replacing the preaching of the Gospel all together).
I call this, “Welfare Christianity.”  So widespread is this modern debacle, that I’ve been labeled a “bad missionary” by many lost people in Honduras for preaching the Gospel, because they exclaimed, “You’re not a good Missionary unless you give us STUFF, and you don’t give away stuff, so you aren’t a good Missionary!”  (Meanwhile they go to the Pentecostal church and get every thing free, but they NEVER hear the Gospel!)
This is why it’s important to understand the primary responsibility of a Missionary—TO  PREACH THE GOSPEL OF CHRIST’S FINISHED WORK!  For what shall it profit a man if you give him all his physical needs, and he loses his own soul?  (Mark 8:36)
With all these new Modernistic changes to Missions, I’d now like to define what a Missionary and an Evangelist are according to the Bible, and see how the church’s confusion on the definition of terms has hurt the cause of Christ in several ways.

A MISSIONARY

A Missionary is someone who’s sent to evangelize by preaching the Gospel (1 Cor. 1:17) to sinners of another language or culture. This can clearly be seen in the life of Paul who himself said, “I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all.”  Paul took the Gospel to those of other languages.
Further, a Missionary must be sent by God (Acts 13:2) and his local church (Acts 13:3).  Far too many Missionaries today claim to be sent by their Mission Board.  But where do we find God authorizing a business to send Missionaries in His name?  Did not God delegate His mission of reaching a lost and dying world to the CHURCH?
I’ve personally met many Missionaries who say the following, “My board tells me what to do, where to go, how long to stay, and how much money I will receive.”
In short, most Missionaries are nothing more than EMPLOYEES, working for a BOARD instead of working for the LORD!
In this New Method of Missions, it is very easy for Missionaries to become enslaved in bondage to man.  And I’ve personally seen and heard many cases of Mission Boards replacing the Holy Spirit, and mandating Missionaries to follow the director’s leading, under threat of excommunication or loss of support, unless they do as they are told.  How different this is from the early Christians, who followed God’s leading wholeheartedly, trusting wholly in God to support them as they followed His holy word.
Sadly, many Missionaries today are also instructed by a Mission Board to go to a foreign field and STAY in one tiny area for life, and are restrained from traveling to other countries to plant churches and preach the Gospel like the early apostles.  Yet, Paul was a MISSIONARY that evangelized in many different countries, speaking in many different languages.  And he didn’t allow himself to be put under the authority of man (1 Cor. 6:12), but freely followed God as the Lord guided him.  And, my, how God used him!  He turned the known world upside down! (Acts 17:6).
I mention this, as I recently heard the following sad testimony from a fellow Missionary.  He said, “I was a Missionary in Mexico for many years.  But God led me to go to Botswana, Africa.  When I told my supporting churches, most of them dropped my support, some even calling me a LIAR!  I then had to start deputation all over and it took me several years before I could finally go to Africa.”
So engrained in the mind of most churches that a Missionary is only called to one SPECIFIC PLACE, that many Missionaries feel unable to freely travel to other areas as Paul with the Gospel for fear of losing support.  Notice how this hinders the Gospel, and it impedes Missionaries from branching out and Evangelizing in other areas.

AN EVANGELIST

An Evangelist is someone who’s mission is to travel and preach the Gospel to the lost, as the apostle Philip. The word Evangelist is found in the Bible two times (Acts 21:8, 2 Tim. 4:5).  Interestingly enough, the word missionary is not found in the Bible one time.  I bring this up, because I’ve recently had several Pastors drop my support claiming, “We only support Missionaries, not Evangelists!”
I find this strange, as today even LOST MODERNISTS with SOCIALISTIC AGENDAS call themselves Missionaries.  Yet they would never call themselves EVANGELISTS, not desiring to be identified with evangelization or converting others to Christ.  But biblically, both Missionaries and Evangelists are sent to EVANGELIZE.  And shouldn’t EVANGELIZING be the main thrust of Missions?
When I asked the aforementioned church why they supported me in the first place, they responded, “Because you are taking the Gospel to lost Hispanics!”
If this be so, why did they drop my support?  Why would it matter to WHERE I go as much as to WHOM I go, if the MISSION is to EVANGELIZE LOST HISPANICS TO CHRIST?
Allow me to make this clear, I’m not against Missionaries or Evangelists.  Nor am I against Mission Boards, Churches, or Missions or Pastors.  But I believe that modern Christianity, as a whole, is so apostate that it can’t even think straight!  It’s forgotten that a Missionary—as well as an Evangelist—has a MISSION to evangelize the lost!  This is BIBLICAL MISSIONS.
One should always define terms to avoid confusion.  Biblically, a Missionary is sent to evangelize the lost of another language, while an Evangelist evangelizes more in his own language.  But both of these do the work of an EVANGELIST!  Paul evangelized to where he went to both Jew and Gentile.  And Philip preached to his own people as well as to the Ethiopian Eunuch.
I stress this point, as recently, I lost even more support when one church said, “Breaker, you are not a Missionary to a certain PLACE, so we aren’t going to support you!”  Another stated similarly, “We don’t want to support you because you are only an evangelist, and we only support Missionaries”
But what’s the difference?  Is one so much different than the other?  Why do they downgrade Evangelists, and uplift Missionaries?  Are they not the same?  Do they not do the exact same thing?
The truth is there is no difference.  Simply put, “A Missionary is to EVANGELIZE and God’s MISSION for every minister is to do the work of an EVANGELIST!  (2 Tim. 4:5).  Every Missionary really is an Evangelist, and every Evangelist truly is a Missionary!
It’s a shame to have to mention such a simple Biblical truth, but I must state this dogmatically.  The problem is that most Christians today think that a Missionary is someone who’s called ONLY to one place to live the rest of his life, and his mission there is to only cater to the physical needs of man.  But, according to the word of God, a Missionary, as well as an Evangelist, is to take the Gospel with him wherever he goes, reaching a lost and dying world for Christ.  One is not more important than the other.  They are both equally needed, and have the same awesome responsibility.
It is true a Missionary usually must learn another language, and he must preach the Gospel to others who speak that language.  And, he must know those people and understand their way of thinking.  These are the people to which he’s been sent.  While an Evangelist usually takes the Gospel to whomever he meets, wherever he goes.  But they both have the same calling and responsibility, TO EVANGELIZE!  And even Evangelists travel around the world preaching the Gospel (at times in other languages through interpreters).
As a Missionary Evangelist myself, (a term that has led to me having lost even more support, as one church said, “The term Missionary Evangelist is not in the Bible!”), God has called me to take the Gospel to the HISPANIC PEOPLE throughout the Americas (and yeah, even to Spain if need be), giving them the pure word of God and preaching their need for salvation, while still reaching my own people—English Speakers, as the Lord allows.  And I’m baffled that I’m losing support for telling people of my God-called ministry!
Many have forsaken me, and have claimed that supporting an evangelist is not right, while supporting a Missionary is.  For the life of me, I don’t understand this.  How can they not desire to support a Missionary Evangelist?  A Missionary and an Evangelist are really the SAME THING!  And, they both have the same calling–PREACHING THE GLORIOUS GOSPEL OF CHRIST’S ATONING WORK ON CALVARY, with the goal of EVANGELIZING THE LOST SINNER!
So I will shortly have to do deputation over, because most people think a Missionary and an Evangelist are two separate things, and they only want to support one instead of the other.  But Biblically, they both have the same calling and goal.  This is why I call myself a Missionary Evangelist.  I desire all to know my MISSION as a MISSIONARY is to reach those of the Spanish tongue, and as an EVANGELIST my responsibility is to EVANGELIZE the lost of any nation, tongue, creed, or race.  This is what God called me to do.  And because of the confusion over the definition of words, I make it a point to use both words in describing my ministry.  Why?  So people will know exactly what my mission is!
As most of you know, there are over 50 million illegal aliens in the United States, which don’t speak English, and many more infiltrating our “open borders” daily.  Who will preach the Gospel to them?  And, all throughout Central and South America there are hundreds of Laodicean Baptist churches which use the corrupt 1960 Spanish Bible put out by the Liberal United Bible Societies under the authority of the Catholic Church.  In short, they use a Catholic Bible.  Someone needs to give them the pure word of God in Spanish.
Here am I Lord, send me!
But, when did it become a sin for a Missionary to evangelize and for an Evangelist to tell others of his mission of reaching the lost for Christ?  Be it sin or not in the eyes of modern day churches, I will continue my ministry and put God first, fulfilling the great commission in my life as the early apostles did, from Jerusalem to Judea to Samaria and to the uttermost parts of the world (Acts 1:8), suffering loss if need be.
I’ll close by mentioning the worst teaching of the Laodicean church, that of changing the Gospel.  Sadly, in this modernistic, apostate era, many so-called missionaries not only have a New way of Thinking, but a “New way of Preaching,” apart from salvation by grace through faith in the sacrificial work of Christ.  They have a “New Age Gospel” which teaches a “New Modernistic Plan of Salvation.”
Instead of TRUST THE BLOOD, as the Bible teaches, a sinner now is taught to TRUST HIMSELF or something HE DID.  But a true Missionary and a Biblical Evangelist does not preach this apostate method.  Instead he points sinners to the crucified Saviour on the Cross of Calvary.
This is why I’ve enclosed my new book entitled, “Hey, Where’s the Blood?”  In it, I expose the satanic BLOODLESS GOSPEL being preached all over the world today by apostate Christianity.  I pray this book will be a blessing to you and help you realize just how far modern Christianity has departed from the Bible and how close we are to the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ!  And I hope you’ll see the need for someone to preach against apostasy in both English and Spanish in this present evil age, as more and more apostate teachings are entering Christian churches, and these are responsible many times for hindering the Gospel of Christ from reaching the lost and dying world.
I’ll close with the words of the Apostle Paul, which I are my solemn desire:

According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.  For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. (Phil. 1:20,21)
